Our Year in AOII (2016-2017)

What a year we’ve had in AOII! It’s been one of our favorites yet, and we want to share some of our highlights with you.

Here are our Top 10 Memories from this past school year:

1) Bid Day

Bid Day is always a treat, and we welcomed 84 incredible girls and our Pi Chi's home to AOII. We celebrated in the chapter room during the day and again on Bid Night, bonding with our newest members.

2) Campaign Week

During campaign week, we got to support two of our girls, Sarah Patrick, a Top 5 candidate for Miss Auburn, and Jacqueline Keck, this year’s SGA President. We were so honored to cheer them on and support them all week and had a blast doing so. Keck yeah!

3) Red Rose Ball

Once every 4 years, we have a special formal called “Red Rose Ball.” All the members wear white except our president who steals the show in red. This is our biggest formal during our time in AOII, and it did not disappoint. We danced the night away at the Fox Theater in Atlanta and had an absolute ball.

4) Greek Sing

Greek Sing is always one of our favorite events of the year, and this year our girls were awarded third place for the second year in a row. Their dance, circus-themed, blew us all away, and we are so proud of the months of hard work they put in to preparing for the big night.

5) Highest Fundraising Team for AUDM

We always love supporting Auburn University Dance Marathon and the Children’s Miracle Network. Our team, the Pop Lockin’ Pandas, raised the highest amount of any of the 150 participating teams. Our very own Morgan Maddox was also the highest fundraiser of the whole event. Our participants' hours of dancing paid off as we got to give over $48,000 to the Children's Miracle Network.

6) 120 Years of AOII and 70 Years of our Delta Delta Chapter

It was a big year for AOII. We celebrated 70 years on Auburn’s campus, and AOII International celebrated 120 years of sisterhood. We celebrated our own chapter’s birthday party at the skating rink and AOII as a whole on Founders’ Day with an ice cream party in our chapter room.

7) The Miss Panhellenic Pageant

At the Miss Panhellenic pageant, our very own Brooke Buckles was crowned “Miss Panhellenic.” Brooke represented us with so much class and grace, and we were so proud to cheer her on before she even won the crown. Additionally, Jacqueline Keck was the Director of Miss Panhellenic and spent the year planning and executing one of the best Miss Panhellenic pageants yet.

8) Run for Roses and Slice Out Arthritis

Our two philanthropy events were a success! At Run for Roses, our 5K around Auburn's campus, we raised over $27,000, and at our second ever Slice Out Arthritis, a night of fellowship and unlimited desserts, we raised over $7,000. At both events, we joined with people from across campus and the Auburn community to raise awareness and money for the Arthritis Foundation, while getting in a good run or enjoying some tasty treats.

9) Panhellenic Convocation

At Panhellenic Convocation, our chapter was recognized as being in the top 3 in grades out of all Greek Life organizations on campus!!! After this, our girls won 5 of the 18 awards given out.

10) Big/Little Reveal

One of our favorite traditions is Big/Little Reveal. Each big/little family chooses a theme and dresses up accordingly while the future littles play a game where they receive different parts of a matching costume at each step of the way. At the end, they get to run into the arms of their bigs and be welcomed into their new families.
