Meet our New Member Educator -our Momma Panda- MC Cunningham! MC is a junior from Birmingham, AL, studying Human Development and Family Studies. Last year, she was an assistant to the new member educator, and we watched our new members thrive from her encouragement and affection, and she's spent her summer on a mission trip, pouring into youth in Northern Ireland. Her heart is so big, and we know she will love our 2017 pledge class so well!!!
"Last year I had the opportunity to have MC as one of my new member assistants, and I am so confident she will make an incredible Momma Panda! She was always so willing to help wherever needed, but what really stood out was the way she loved the new members. In a time of such transition and change, MC had a way of making all the new members feel loved and comfortable in their new home. I am so excited to watch her do the same thing as New Member Educator!" -Madison Simpson, 2016 Momma Panda
What made you want to be Momma Panda?
"I wanted to be Momma Panda because of the role I get to play in the lives of our new members. My Momma Panda was such a crucial part of my freshman year – I went to her for everything big or small. I look forward to being called upon for ice cream runs and study dates with each of our new members this fall!"
What's the best part of being Momma Panda?
"The best part is the relationships that come out of it. I absolutely cannot wait to meet all of our new members and help them shift into some of the greatest couple of years. Freshman year will be full of many transitions, and I am so excited to be able to play a small part in it!"
What is your favorite AOII memory?
"My favorite AOII memory would be going to New York City this past Spring Break with 10 of my sisters. We were able to do it all – Broadway shows, a Knicks game, the TODAY Show, and of course consume obscene amounts of good food. The thing I enjoyed most was making memories and growing in friendship with each of the girls. I have truly found my best friends here, and I am so grateful to AOII for providing me with them."
What do you love most about AOII?
"I love AOII because of the diversity that is found within it. I have been able to meet and become friends with so many girls because of the many different personalities shared within our chapter. It is so cool to see how we can all come together in one group. I have never been a part of a group of women who are so encouraging and supportive of each member in everything that they do."
What did you enjoy most about your new member experience?
"I enjoyed gaining new relationships and friendships with my pledge class the most. The new member period is filled with so many opportunities to get to know one another, and I have been so blessed to have the friends that I do now. I also love Big/Little because my big became one of my absolute best friends."
What advice would you give a PNM going through recruitment?
"I would tell a PNM to just be yourself as you go through this process. It can be challenging and overwhelming, but at the end of the day we just want to get to know you! Do not stress about the little things too much and really utilize your Pi Chi to help you throughout the week. Everything always works out, and you end up where you are supposed to be."
